If you really need convincing...
This fantastic PADI Guided Snorkel Experience is an introduction to a snorkelling lesson and guided tour with the experienced Goat Island Dive & Snorkel PADI Divemasters, all for just $34.
The Guided Snorkel Experience is perfect for anyone who is new to snorkelling or is keen to enhance their skills. You can come and do this by yourself or get a group together to make it even more fun. Goat Island Dive & Snorkel can cater for groups of up to 90 people per day, making it a fantastic experience for school groups, corporate events, functions or team building exercises.
After booking, you'll head to Goat Island Dive & Snorkel at 10.30am on your chosen day. Being on time is very important. Then the team will fit you comfortably with your snorkel equipment and it's off to the beach for a flip chart presentation incorporating tips on 'how to snorkel', background history on New Zealand's first marine reserve, and what fish and marine life you're likely to see in Goat Island Marine Reserve.
Then under the direct supervision of your PADI Divemaster, you're off snorkelling in the Goat Island Marine Reserve. After you feel confident in the shallows, you'll be set to wade in to waist deep water and practice your new snorkel skills.
You’ll be surrounded by a myriad of colourful New Zealand fish life including blue maomao, snapper, parore, spotties as well as crayfish. No promises, dolphins love visiting the reserve and playing with the snorkellers, this might be your day!
Just resist the temptation to sing "Under the Sea" while you're submerged. That's a mistake you only make once.
