If you really need convincing...

When a child is battling a serious illness, it is paramount to their ability to cope and heal that their family remains close. Ronald McDonald Houses provide free accommodation and non-medical support services to families, from all over New Zealand, whose children require specialist hospital care in a city far from home.

New Zealand’s Ronald McDonald Houses are situated in Christchurch, Auckland, and Wellington - each just a short walk away from the hospital.

The Houses ensure that families can remain together throughout their medical journey, so that they can find the combined strength to get through whatever challenges the coming days, weeks or months may hold for them. With the practicalities of day to day life taken care of families can focus on what really matters – helping their child heal.

Collectively New Zealand’s Ronald McDonald Houses have been keeping thousands of Kiwi families together and strong. In 2011 alone, the Houses provided 33,950 nights of accommodation and a home away from home to 2,543 families.
