For those of you who think 'getting back to nature' is drinking freshly squeezed orange juice, you're about to have a whoooole lot of fun.

The Bullswool Farm Park is not just a farm, it’s one step from being a zoo, with a wide range of animals to see with picnic and play areas for the kids. Today they treat you with a cost of only $3 to come and visit them all.

The farm is near to Waihi, Paeroa and the famous Karangahake Gorge, whose walkway was voted one of the “101 Must-do’s for Kiwis”. It’s grown in popularity over the years, with tour groups and schools, and is a favourite with families.

Especially with school holidays on their way, this is a great time to get up close to a large variety of rare breed farm animals. All are friendly and can be hand-fed. Follow the 1 km walkway around the farm and on your way meet: miniature horses, donkeys, deer, coloured sheep, emus, ducks, chickens, llamas, kunekune pigs, paint and gypsy cob horses, miniature cattle, alpacas, pygmy goats and axolotls. This is a chance to enjoy a unique hands-on, authentic working farm experience.

Once called a “Southern Coromandel Icon” by some very happy travellers, it’s a great way to spend an hour, afternoon, or whole day around beautiful farmland and animals. So throw off your city slicker shoes and take a trip to the farm.
